BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE

UNIVERSITY OF PADOVA

The Welcome party will be held in the new building of the old Botanical Garden. The botanical garden of Padova, founded in 1545, is the world’s oldest academic garden that has its original location and scientific and architectonic features preserved. It is a World Heritage site. MUSEUM OF GEOLOGY AND PALEONTOLOGY

UNIVERSITY OF PADOVA

The Museum of Geology and Paleontology is housed in the Palazzo Cavalli, a Villa of the XVI century, which until 2011 was the former site of the Department of Geology. The Vertebrate and Plant Halls, as well as the “Sala delle Palme" (Palm Hall), were restored and opened to the public in 2009, while the frescoes of the XVII-XVIII century of other parts of the building are still under restoration. The paleobotanical collections of Barone Achille De Zigno and of the botanist Antonio De Visiani are stored in the museum. PALAZZO BO

UNIVERSITY OF PADOVA MAIN BUILDING

This is where the Opening Ceremony will be held. Conveniently located in the city centre, at walking distance from the train station and from the main bus station (less than 1500 m). Buses and tram stop nearby; from the Railway Station to meeting venue Palazzo Bo take the tram or bus nr. 3 or 5 or 12 or 18 and get off at Riviera Ponti Romani.

The entrance is from the so-called Cortile Antico (ancient court), in Via 8 Febbraio 1848, 2. The Aula Magna is at the first floor.
